The Toyota Mekong Club Championship is a football tournament among teams from Mekong countries initiated by Toyota Motor Asia Pacific (TMAP) since 2014 under the Toyota Mekong Football Project (TMFP). The project is initiated by Toyota to show our support for the development of football in the Mekong countries.
Toyota aims to go beyond delivering ‘ever better’ cars and become a “best partner” for each country. To this end, Toyota aims to enrich the lives of the communities in the Mekong region, including Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam by making football more accessible to the young and old, aspiring football players and sports fans.
Boeung Ket FC Gets Vathanaka Boost for Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN FC Rematch
Boeung Ket FC will welcome back star forward Chan Vathanaka for Wednesday’s second leg of their 2017 Toyota Mekong Club Championship first-round clash with Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN FC.
The Cambodian outfit currently holds a slim advantage ahead of the match at the Phnom Penh Olympic Stadium, having claimed a hatful of crucial away goals in last Saturday’s 4-4 first leg draw in Hanoi.
Maycon Calijuri was the star of the show for Boeung Ket FC with a fine hat-trick, although the likes of Samuel Ajayi, Esoh Omogba and substitute Julius Oiboh also looked dangerous in attack.
And, as if the Boeung Ket FC forward line was not already potent enough, they are set to receive a welcome boost in the form of Cambodia international Vathanaka, who is back with the team following the completion of his loan spell at Japanese third-tier side Fujieda MYFC.
Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN FC coach Vo Dinh Tan has called on his side to stay focused in Wednesday’s Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2017 clash with Boeung Ket FC.
The TMCC 2017 got off to a thrilling start last weekend as Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN FC and Boeung Ket FC played out a 4-4 draw in the first leg of their first round clash at the Hang Day Stadium in Hanoi.
Having conceded four away goals, Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN FC enter Wednesday’s return encounter as slight underdogs, although they showed on Saturday that they have more than enough firepower to cause problems for their opponents at the Olympic Stadium.
Nonetheless, similar to his Boeung Ket FC counterpart Hao Socheat, Dinh Tan admits it was at the back where his side let themselves down in the first leg and has called for a more resilient display in the rematch.
